JIMMY CARR AND GAD ELMALEH TO PERFORM AT THE JUST FOR LAUGHS FESTIVAL THIS SUMMER!

Montreal, April 4, 2016 – The Just For Laughs Festival, presented by Videotron in association with Loto-Québec is thrilled to welcome international superstars Jimmy Carr and Gad Elmaleh to the 34th annual festival to perform a run of shows at Le Gesù as part of our National Bank Solo Show series.

THE MASTER OF DEADPAN-ONE LINERS!

Among the most respected and best-loved comedians working in Britain today, Jimmy Carr is one of the biggest selling live acts in UK comedy and could be seen recently on Showtime’s special The Nasty Show, recorded last summer in Montreal. Jimmy was the first UK comedian to sign a stand-up special deal with Netflix and his comedy special was released this past March. The master of deadpan one-liners brings his international tour and all-new stand-up show, Funny Business, which has seen him perform to over 300,000 people worldwide, to Le Gesù from July 25-30 with 5 performances.

OH MY GAD!

Often referred to as the “Jerry Seinfeld of French Comedy”, Gad Elmaleh is arguably the biggest and most loved comedic star in France. Born in Casablanca, Morocco, he speaks Moroccan Arabic, French, English and Hebrew. Gad transcends cultural boundaries with his wry observations and colourful characterizations and in recent years has performed to sold-out audiences in Miami, Los Angeles and New York. Oh My Gad, his new stand-up show entirely in English, builds upon the jokes that made him famous overseas and includes new observations from his life in America. Don’t miss Gad’s 4 performances at Le Gesù from July 26-29.

ALREADY ANNOUNCED BUT NOT TO BE MISSED!

After breakout English performances at last summer’s Festival, one of Quebec’s biggest stars Rachid Badouri, is primed to take over The Ethnic Show, as part of the 2016 National Bank Club Series. Badouri is one of the most passionate, enthusiastic comedians, selling over 750,000 tickets during his career and becoming one of the most sought-after performers in the world. Included in The Ethnic Show is a gathering of some of the most diverse comedians with unique backgrounds and perspectives including; Nigerian-American Godfrey, Greek-American Yannis Pappas, from the Bronx, Puerto Rican Gina Brillon, Jewish-American Jessica Kirson and special guest and Festival favourite, Italian-American Dom Irrera. The Ethnic Show will take place at Club Soda and Metropolis with 19 performances from July 13-28.

Following a triumphant debut as Master of Offense and receiving critical success, Mike Ward, the Celine Dion of dick jokes, will return to host The Nasty Show for a second time. Ward is an award winning French comedy mega-star whose last tour grossed over 5 million dollars in Quebec alone. He has appeared on JFL XXX, which aired on HBO Canada and his performance last summer was recorded for Showtime USA’s special The Nasty Show. Joining Ward on stage will be none other than special guest Bobby Slayton a.k.a. the Pitbull of Comedy, Brad Williams, who achieved four standing-ovation performances at the Neil Patrick Harris: Circus Awesomeus Gala in 2015, star of The Carmichael Show, Tiffany Haddish and one of the most in-demand touring comedians, Ralphie May. The Nasty Show will take place exclusively at Metropolis with 13 performances from July 20-30.

The Just For Laughs Festival runs from July 13- 31, 2016 in Montreal, Canada.
