Paul Edwards
In the beginning ...I was born, raised, and educated in Newfoundland, Canada. During the mid to late nineties, I was a member of the popular St. John's based comedy troupe Cat Fud with Mark Critch, Chad House, and Greg Rex. Following a string of acclaimed self produced shows and appearances on CBC TV, CBC Radio's Madly Off In All Directions, and the makeshift stage at Her Majesty's Penitentiary, the troupe disbanded in 1997 to attempt maturity.
Off to the Salt Mines! In the following years performing took a back seat to the day job. I travelled and worked in Alberta, Newfoundland, and Texas, with some trips to the UK thrown in for good measure. After returning from the USA to live at home in Canada, I was eager to begin performing again.
Back on the HorseI wrote and performed the one man sketch comedy Full Frontal Lobotomy at the 2002 Atlantic Fringe Festival. In 2003, I returned with the Fringe Hit A Canadian Idle, another one man sketch comedy, this time directed by Mark Critch. In 2004, I performed the Fringe Hit Another Night on George Street.
In February of 2004 I began performing standup comedy in Halifax with the Halifax Comedy Project. This experience has subsequently led to a performance at Montreal's The Comedy Nest and an appearance on CBC Radio's Madly Off In All Directions in August 2004.
And now ...I've recently been featured in a Pizza Delight ad campaign and have experienced every Newfoundlander's dream - being cast in a Nova Scotia tourism commercial. In April of 2005 I was featured on the CBC Radio program Stand and Deliver.
I've since recorded another episode of Madly Off In All Directions and hosted an episode of a new CBC Radio program, So You Think You're Funny (most of the guests were - some, to be kind, weren't).
In August 2006 I played a cool role in the upcoming Season 7 of The Trailer Park Boys, which was a blast!
And he, uhm, they live happily ever after ...By day I am an engineer in the Oil & Gas sector based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada where I live with my wife Julie and our first child, Joey, the happiest most laid back kid in Canada, who joined us in November, 2005.
