Simon Rakoff, a veteran comic, has been performing standup since 1978. He is still considered to be one of the quickest minds on the scene and widely regarded as one of Canada’s top MCs. He has appeared as a headliner at clubs, pubs, campuses and corporate events across Canada and in the United States and provided audience warm-up for countless television shows including the Gemini Awards.

He has performed on Just For Laughs, The Winnipeg Comedy Festival, CBC’s “Comics!” and holds the record for appearances on “Open Mike with Mike Bullard”. He has also made guest appearances on “This is Wonderland”, “The Rick Mercer Report”, “Queer as Folk”, “The Associates”, Switchback” and the film “Prescription For Murder”. He has also acted in commercials and is a voice-over artist in commercials and cartoons such as “Carl Squared”.  He has also written and performed regular humorous commentaries on the CBC Evening News.

Simon has an eclectic array of credits as a writer, comprising of sitcoms, sketch shows, cartoons and kids shows. His credits include writing on Fox’s Sunday Comics, sketches for the Canadian edition of Sesame Street, provided material for sitcoms An American in Canada and The Blobheads and sold numerous jokes for Jay Leno’s Tonight Show monologues.

Simon’s act is carefully crafted and full of thought-provoking, hilarious routines combined with incredible ad-libbing abilities, covering themes such as religion, relationships, stupidity and man in the modern world.
