Of French Canadian descent, she was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where she began her broadcasting career as a student, and continued to host both French and English radio and television shows in Montreal and Toronto. She became the first woman in Canada to front a major market morning show, hosting <em>&ldquo;Carla &amp; Company&rdquo;</em> on Toronto&rsquo;s MIX 99.9.</p> <p class="biotext">In 1990, as an anchor at The Weather Network, her constant jokes and unique forecasts, including her &ldquo;All-Request Weather Weekend&rdquo;, led to the start of her comedy career. Carla continued her television career as host of the Toronto daytime talk show <em>&ldquo;Eye On Toronto&rdquo;</em>. In 1995, she began co-hosting CTV entertainment news magazine<em> &ldquo;Entertainment Now&rdquo;</em> and more recently, she hosted CTV variety series <em>&ldquo;Sonic Temple&rdquo;</em>. </p> <p class="biotext">Carla&rsquo;s string of television series appearances include Pax TV&#39;s <em>&ldquo;Doc&rdquo;, Noggin&#39;s &ldquo;Degrassi: The Next Generation&rdquo;</em>, Oxygen/Showcase&#39;s &ldquo;<em>Show Me Yours&rdquo;</em>, YTV&#39;s <em>&ldquo;The Zack Files&rdquo;</em> as well as <em>&ldquo;Tracker&rdquo;, &ldquo;Paradise Falls&rdquo;, &ldquo;Starhunter 2300&rdquo;</em>, <em>&ldquo;The City&rdquo; </em>and <em>&ldquo;Screech Owls&rdquo;</em>. In 2000, she secured her own half-hour comedy series <em>&ldquo;Chez Carla&rdquo; </em>on The Comedy Network and in 2001, her first solo stand-up special, <em>&ldquo;The Wonder Bra Years&rdquo;</em>, which aired on both The Comedy Network and CTV, captured a Gold Award for Best TV Comedy Special at Worldfest: Houston International Film and Television Festival. In 2001, she made her feature film debut alongside Samuel L. Jackson in <em>&ldquo;Caveman&rsquo;s Valentine&rdquo;</em>.</p> <p class="biotext">As Pop Culture editor for Inside Entertainment magazine, she has written for a variety of publications including Flare, Canadian Living, the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Sun and Elle magazine. She also wrote a rejected Penthouse Letter using the pseudonym Juan Tibonia. </p> <p class="biotext">An accomplished stand-up comedian, she has performed at the Vancouver Comedy festival, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the Las Vegas Comedy Festival and Montreal&rsquo;s renowned Just for Laughs festival, where she shot the comedy special <em>&ldquo;Front Row at Just For Laughs&rdquo;</em>. She is also a regular at clubs such as The Improv and The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, as well as Yuk Yuks in Toronto.
