I’d like to petition Just for Laughs Gags to discontinue production of the segments featuring people who are blind, or rather, actors pretending to be blind and stop using this character for gag fodder. These segments are unbelievably offensive, dehumanizing and are impact the lives of people who genuinely experience vision loss or blindness. By portraying people who are blind as bumbling, incompetent, unsafe, dangerious or careless you are reinforcing negative stereotypes that impact upon the lives of independant, intelligent individuals who are constantly having to contend with a misinformed public whose perceptions are gleamed from the likes of your low-brow brand of prat humour. I have a hereditary eye condition that will eventually result in the loss of my sight and I refuse to stand idly by as you exploit people for cheap laughs.
