Mark Bennett has been called by the media as “smart”, “witty”, “clever” and “intelligent”. Originally from Newfoundland, now living in Toronto, his stand-up is analogous to the geographical reality in which he grew up – a man standing outside looking in. He appeals to a universal audience while maintaining the ability to be extraordinarily funny. His comedy is inspired by the world around him – a fascination with science combined with a ridiculous view of everyday life makes Mark’s humour clever, interesting, and most importantly, it leaves audiences laughing out-loud.

Mark grew up in a small town on the out-skirts of St John’s, Newfoundland, and during his school days, he became proficient at making classmates and teachers laugh. Once he completed university, he threw aside his business and psychology degrees and marched to the nation’s capital where he began performing. Mark stayed in Ottawa for 10 months, before relocating to the Toronto comedy scene in 2004.

He has won contest after contest, been featured in national newspapers, toured across the country and has established himself as one of the next being comics to watch and even earned a spot at the most prestigious comedy festival in the world, the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. He also performed in the Halifax Comedy Festival in 2006. Mark has been featured on StarTV, the CBC, and written and performed for the Comedy Network.
