October 7, 2020 (TORONTO, ON) – Just For Laughs is proud to present Comedy Night in Canada on Saturday October 24th at CityView Drive-In.

Hosted by SiriusXM Top Comic winner Adam Christie, the Just For Laughs Comedy Night in Canada will feature Ramy star Dave Merheje, 2020 Juno Award Winner for Comedy Album of the Year Sophie Buddle, along with Toronto’s very own Arthur Simeon and Kyle Brownrigg.

About Our Line-Up:

Adam Christie is a pretty tall comedian and actor from sunny Toronto. He has written for the television shows Baroness Von Sketch Show & This Hour Has 22 Minutes, and has had SMALL BIT PARTS on the shows Schitt's Creek, What We Do in the Shadows, and The Expanse.

Adam is the recent winner of the Sirius XM Top Comic competition at JFL 42, which earned him a $25,000 prize and an appearance at Just for Laughs Sydney, where he performed three shows at the world-famous Sydney Opera House. This year his debut stand-up album 'General Anxiety Disorder' was nominated for a Juno award. This Drive-In Series show will be his first time performing to an audience of automobiles.

Dave Merheje co-stars alongside Ramy Youssef and Mo Amer in the new, award winning comedy series Ramy on Hulu. As a stand up, Dave has made multiple appearances at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, JFL42 in Toronto, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, the Halifax Comedy Festival, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in Australia, and tours clubs and theatres regularly. In 2018 Dave released his comedy special “Good Friend Bad Grammar” which is available on iTunes and Amazon Prime, and won the 2019 Juno Award for Comedy Album of the year. His most recent comedy special, Beautifully Manic, can be seen on Netflix as part of Comedians of the World, right now.

Sophie Buddle is a stand-up, a tv writer, a podcaster and a 2020 Juno award winner. You've seen her on CBC's This Hour Has 22 Minutes as a correspondent and as a staff writer, she's also been featured on JFL All Access, Kevin Hart's LOL Network, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the Halifax Comedy Festival. Sophie released her first album this year, "Lil Bit Of Buddle". She released it herself so you can find it on iTunes in the genre "easy listening" which was a mistake, but it is easy to listen to so it's ok. Her podcast Obsessed with Sophie Buddle was also an instant hit. She is also a two-time runner up for Canada's biggest stand-up contest SiriusXM Top Comic and headlines across the country.

Arthur Simeon is a Ugandan-born Toronto-based comedian who has been performing for a decade all over the world. A truly gifted storyteller, Arthur has appeared multiple times at the prestigious Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal, Odd Block Comedy Festival and JFL 42 as well as CBC Television, HBO and the Comedy Network.

His unique comedic voice and perspective have been featured in the Globe & Mail, NOW Magazine and the Toronto Star. Arthur is also a regular on CBC Radio's Laugh Out Loud and The Debaters. Most importantly, Arthur is a banana bread connoisseur and lover of slow jams.

Kyle Brownrigg is an undeniable presence in Canadian comedy. In June 2019 he was named 'Best Breakout Artist' at the Canadian Comedy Awards becoming the first gay male to have been awarded for a stand-up related category. Originally from Ottawa, Kyle now makes his home in Toronto. He was a finalist in SiriusXM's Top Comic competition, the search for Canada's next top comic, one of JFL42's New Faces, and was selected as one of Canada’s Homegrown Comics for Just for Laughs. In his short career, Kyle has done tapings for Comedy Network and CTV as part of Just for Laughs, CBC’s Halifax Comedy Festival, Laugh Out Loud, and The Debaters. He is certainly someone you don’t want to miss.

This will be the first comedy night hosted at CityView Drive-In that was launched as a creative alternative to live, indoor entertainment during the height of the pandemic. The outdoor concert and entertainment venue has featured rock bands, electronic music groups, world-famous DJs, YouTube superstars, TIFF screenings and even the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
